Feeling that afternoon lag during your workday? Get moving to get energized with these workouts you can do right in your workspace!
Staying active is a huge part of living a healthy lifestyle. However, for many Americans, a large portion of the day is spent sedentary at work. Luckily, there are many simple exercises you can do at your desk!
Ankle Alphabet: One effective leg and core strengthener is to write the ABCs with your feet! Extend your right leg out in front and point your toe. Then write the letters of the alphabet with your foot without letting your foot touch the ground. After 26 letters, change legs and repeat!
Tap in Place: Plug in your headphones, sit upright, and start dancing! Speedily tapping your toes on the floor under your desk may seem a little silly, but this simple activity burns calories and strengthens your core. Pay attention to your posture — the more upright you are sitting, the better the workout!
Sitting Squats: Start in a seated position in your chair. Stand up, and then return to the seated position. Do this for a minute or two at a time, repeating hourly.
Step it Up: If your workplace has a staircase, take an extra trip or two up them during your lunch break, or repeat once an hour. Crunch Time: If you are lucky enough to have a rolling chair at your desk, use it to help tone those abs. Steady yourself by holding on lightly to your desk, while using your core to swivel the chair from side to side.
