A sports physical is a medical exam that determines whether or not it is safe for your child to play a certain sport. While not every state requires sports physicals, they are highly recommended by most medical professionals. The evaluation process is very simple. Next time you bring your child in for a sports physical, this is what you can expect:

Medical History: This part of the exam can include questions on topics such as:
  • Family history of serious illnesses
  • Past and present illnesses
  • Allergies
  • Previous surgeries and/or hospitalizations
  • Past injuries
  • Past and present medication
Physical Examination: This part of the exam can include:
  • Measuring your height and weight
  • Checking your pulse and blood pressure
  • An eye test
  • Evaluating the condition of your heart, lungs, and throat
  • Checking your joints, strength, and flexibility

Be sure to bring any necessary forms and a list of your child’s current medications. Sports physicals are straightforward when you come prepared. If you child needs a sports physical, you may walk in any of our centers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. to be seen by a physician. See our page on Sports Physicals to learn more!

We would love to learn what would be helpful on this page for you.
