Sometimes the workday feels like it stretches on forever and, before you know it, fatigue sets in. Good sleep, a healthy diet, and consistent exercise all help you stay energized throughout the day. However, did you know the proper workstation arrangement and habits can also eliminate fatigue?

Check out these simple tips to help transform your workstation into a more energizing area:

  • Posture and Position – Maintaining good posture throughout the day can help with shoulder and back pain caused by slouching or leaning over your desk. Sit up straight with the back of the chair supporting your upper and lower back.
  • Take a Break – Taking a few minutes to do some light stretching or go for a short walk down the hallway can prevent you from spending too much time in one position. Ease eye-strain by looking away from the monitor for a few moments to rest your eyes.
  • Monitor Height – The center of your computer screen should be level with your eyes. When using multiple monitors, position both in your view to avoid having to turn your head. Situate the monitor at least an arm’s length away from your chair.
  • Headset vs. Handset – If you spend a significant amount of time on the phone, use a headset to help ease tension in your shoulders that develops when you pinch the phone between your cheek and shoulder.

Incorporating these tips into your workstation can prevent fatigue and muscle soreness or stiffness. The proper workstation can keep you feeling charged and relaxed during your workday.
