Water Lantern Festival.jpg

On Saturday, August 6th the 2022 Water Lantern Festival was held at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  Thousands of people came together to experience unity in the community that was moving, yet uplifting.  People channeled their creative side working effortlessly to design water lanterns that were meaningful to them.  Many people listed their dreams and aspirations whiles others took time to commemorate the loss of a loved one.  Some participants were brave enough to get up on stage and share their personal stories.  As night fell, everyone headed to the lake to release their lanterns which is symbolic to releasing peace, hope and happiness.

For years Patient First has aided in healing the community through the services provided at our medical centers.  We were proud to support an event that brought healing and community connection outside of the healthcare setting.  Although the event just concluded, we are already looking forward to next year.

On Friday, July 15 the Hanover County community welcomed the Hanover Tomato Festival back to Poole Green Park.  This highly anticipated, family oriented tradition has been around for many years.  There were several games and activities for the kids and some unique crafts and homemade goods.  People came out to purchase the fresh produce and indulge in some popular tomato themed dishes.

Although the weather was warm, people were excited to be outdoors.  Our friend, McGruff even took time away from fighting crime to say hello.  Patient First was proud to be there to share some health benefits of tomatoes and support the return of this beloved festival.

Chalk the Walk returned to Virginia Beach this weekend for a colorful, creative, cartoon pals themed event.  Several local artist and aspiring artist gathered on the boardwalk creating murals of artwork along the pavement.  All registered participants competed for a trophy and a cash prize.  Others stopped by to join in the fun by drawing pictures of their choice.

Slacklining, kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain bike riding, rock climbing and the ultimate air dog’s show are just a few of the headlining events.  Thousands of people poured in for the 3-day event filled weekend. The temperature was high and so was the crowd’s energy level.  They stood by in awe as they cheered the participants on.

Tuckahoe Elementary School kicked off the season with their annual Spring Fling.  Patient First hosted the Kooky Clinic, which was a big hit for the students.  Several kids lined up at the Patient First tent to receive bandages, wraps, slings and fake blood to make their imitation injuries look real.  And just like any other day, a few of our awesome team members from the Colonial Heights center jumped right in to take care of them.

Other fun stations set up for the kids included a petting zoo, axe throwing, bounce houses, cake walks, a trolley train, as well as food, music, and so much more.  The PTA did an awesome job of putting the event together to make it a memorable moment for the kids.  And to top it all off, the weather was perfect!  What an awesome day for the Tuckahoe community!  We had a blast and look forward to seeing you all next year.

DogJog22.jpg

The Annual Dog Jog and 5K Run tends to bring out several hundred people and their pups.  Despite the chilly and windy weather conditions on Saturday, this year was no different.  The grounds of the Robins Star Humane Center were packed with people and paws that paraded down Hermitage Road for a family fun event that even non-pet owners could love.

Locals laced up their sneakers and kicked things off with the 5k run, while pups joined later for a one mile walk or jog of their choice. Even the children  participated in a quick sprint down Hermitage Road.  Patient First, a proud supporter of the SPCA and their mission, was excited to be a part of such a great cause.
