  Patient First Sponsors Hometown Holidays: A Community Gathering in Rockville, MD

  The City of Rockville held its annual Hometown Holidays: A Community Gathering event on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, at RedGate Park, near our center in Rockville, MD. About 10,000 people attended this free festival that included two stages of entertainment by local and regional entertainment, with more than 10 performers covering genres from rock and reggae to pop and blues. Patient First was a major sponsor of the event and Kids Stage. The Patient First Stage featured kid-friendly performances, dance, and an animal show. Activities for kids included things like the Sand Dune, Selfie Stations, as well as games like Cornhole, and Connect Four. In addition, the event featured Taste of Rockville, which featured cuisine from local restaurants. The entire event was a great success, and our staff had great engagement and interactions with attendees.

  Algonkian Elementary Invention Night: Handwashing Demonstration

  More than 400 people attended Algonkian Elementary's Invention Night on February 28. The event's goal was to empower students to make meaningful contributions to the world, using Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. It's aim was also to provide access points for guiding and exciting student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. There were many hands-on activities, demonstrations, and experiments. Some companies brought technology for students and parents to view, and learn how technology impacts the world. This was our first year participating in this event, and we were asked to showcase a demonstration illustrating the importance of proper hand washing techniques. Our demonstration sessions began with a Patient First nurse leading students to cover their hands with a special "Glo Germ" solution.  That solution would light up as a black light was passed over their hands. Next, the nurse had the students wash their hands as they normally would. A second pass of the black light showed the students the germs all the little blotches and crevices where the solution remained, illustrating how germs could still linger on their hands.   Landover Hills, MD National Night Out

  Landover Hills, MD held its annual National Night Out, which is organized by the local Police department. National Night Out is a community-police awareness raising event in the United States every year. This year there was face painting and arts and crafts activities. In addition, they had the bomb squad and robots present. Located near our Landover Hills, MD location, this event drew families in the local area. They loved our Band-Aids, hand sanitizer and especially the Patient First yo-yo’s. We would to thank Landover Hills Police department for inviting Patient First to come out to this event. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

  Star Wars Night with the Bowie Baysox

  It may have been over 46 years since Star Wars hit the silver screen, but the cultural impact of that sci-fi blockbuster saga is clearly alive and well generations later, as the Bowie Baysox held its annual Star Wars Night Saturday, June 3rd, at Prince George's Stadium. As part of our partnership with the Orioles' AA affiliate, our Patient First table was set up right outside the First Aid station during this, one of the team's most well-attended games of the year, as the Baysox took on the Harrisburg Senators. There were professional cosplayers on hand for photos with the fans, many of whom came in costumes of their own. In addition, there were Star Wars themed events in between innings featuring music and video presentations, and light saber duels. Our table was well-received by the fans, who told us wonderful things about our centers, our services, and our staff. The patients we spoke to came from as far north as Aberdeen and as far south as Waldorf. Unfortunately, the Force was not with the Baysox that night, as the team lost 13-4. ...

  McIntosh Elementary School Rhythm and Wellness Night

  McIntosh Elementary School, located in Newport News, VA, hosted its inaugural Rhythm and Wellness Concert, Bookfair, and Fitness Night on February 29th. Led by the incredible talents of the school's second and third graders, students and their families sang, read, danced, drummed, stretched and learned as they embraced the beat, ignited their fitness journey, and delved into the world of literature all in one unforgettable night. Around every corner of the school was an activity to participate in. Patient First, who was positioned in the front of the school, offered parents, teachers and administrators free blood pressure screenings, many of whom took advantage of the opportunity.  The school itself is a bilingual school. Approximately, 15% of their student population is Hispanic. Each activity for the evening was offered in both English and Spanish. Many of the families who attended the event were not aware of Patient First, despite our Denbigh center being approximately 1 mile from the school. This gave us a great opportunity to talk to these families about the services we offer for both the children and their parents, alike. Many were appreciative of ...

  Nights at the Bowie Baysox

  It's been a good summer for the Baltimore Orioles and their AA farm system team, the Bowie Baysox, and Patient First is proud to be a part of these two winning seasons. In addition to running the first aid center for every Baysox home game, Friday August 19th, and Friday August 26th completed our six-game showcasing events for Patient First at the games. Not only did the Baysox entertain the crowds by winning each of their games (the first in a tense, extra innings showdown), each night was capped off with a dazzling fireworks display, and an opportunity to let kids run the bases. Over the course of both nights, we saw hundreds of people, and gave out hundreds of promotional items, including hand sanitizer, band-aids, magnet clips, pens, paper, and the ever-popular hot/cold packs. Throughout each event, our brand awareness was strong, with every single person who stopped by not only familiar with, but a fan of the service we provide our patients.
