Patient First Celebrates 45 Years of Physician-Led, All-in-One Care Across the Mid-Atlantic

Patient First is celebrating 45 years of service, marking a milestone in its mission to provide convenient, cost-effective medical care without appointments, 365 days a year.

Founded in 1981, Patient First introduced a physician-led model focused on convenience, cost-effectiveness, and patient-centered care. In the 45 years since, we have grown to 79 medical centers across Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey with more than 50 million patient visits.

From the beginning, Patient First centers provided on-site x-rays, laboratory services, and prescription medications. Care is led by physicians and physician assistants at each center. Over time, services have expanded to include primary care, occupational health, and telehealth.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Patient First maintained in-person care while introducing telehealth services, ensuring patient access during a period of unprecedented disruption.

In 2025, Patient First earned 38 “Best Urgent Care,” “Top Doctors,” and “Top Workplace” awards across the region.

Looking ahead, we plan to continue adding services and locations while maintaining our longstanding commitment to putting patients first.
