As part of our participation in the Military Affairs Advisor Committee with the Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Patient First had its table and tent as out as part of the tailgate for the Army-Navy Flag Football matchup on the grounds of Fort Meade on Wednesday, November 12th. This was our first time participating in this 15-year tradition, and the first time we’ve been on the grounds of the base in at least six years.
Fortunately, there was a break in the cold temperatures and brisk winds, making it a pleasant afternoon on Mullins Field. Our tent was abutted against the large tent providing hamburgers and hot dogs to the attendees. The event gave us the opportunity to interact with several families newly arrived at the base. While some were just learning of how we could be of service to the military through our agreement with Tri-care, most were frequent visitors to our Odenton center, just four miles up the road. By far the biggest hit at our table were the wooden gliders, which kept the kids entertained while the game was underway, and the music was pumping.
Before we knew it, the game was over, with the Army squad holding off a late 2nd half drive from Navy, keeping the trophy on site for another year. This was a pleasant opportunity for us to get our foot in the door with the military community at Fort Meade, and hopefully the first of several events to come over the next few years.
