Dr. Newton joined Patient First as a Staff Physician at the Midlothian center in November 2008.  A 1980 graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, he earned his  M.D. degree in 1986 from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University.  Dr. Newton completed a Family Practice internship and residency program at Riverside Family Medicine in Newport News.  Upon completion of his residency program, Dr. Newton served in private practice in southwest Virginia for eleven years.  Dr. Newton served as an instructor at the University of Jember in East Java, Indonesia for seven years, before returning to the United States and joining Patient First.  Dr. Newton is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
