Pregnancy tests are performed by checking for levels of the pregnancy hormone (hCG) in a blood or urine sample. This test is performed in the office and the results are available in less than twenty minutes. Keep in mind that the levels of the pregnancy hormone are easier to detect the longer after conception you perform your test. Therefore, while it is possible for the levels to be detected (test is positive) as soon as 20-24 days after conception, tests are more likely to be accurate after your first missed period.
