Patient First
2008 Student Essay Contest
For Chesapeake 8th Grade Students
As summer approaches and students look forward to fun-filled days of vacations and free time, it is a good idea to think about safety.
Patient First is once again sponsoring an 8th grade essay contest for Chesapeake County Public Schools. Participants in the contest are asked to submit an essay recalling an accident in which they were involved or of which they have first hand knowledge, and come up with an invention that would help protect against such an accident in the future.
The contest is designed to hone writing skills, increase safety awareness, and provide an opportunity for students to display their creativity and inventiveness.
The grand prize for the 2008 Patient First Essay Contest is a Nintendo Wii, which will be awarded to the best overall essay. There are also first and second prizes of $250 and $100 savings bonds awarded to the top essays at each school that has a total of 15 or more individual submissions. The contest is open to all current 8th grade students in the Chesapeake County Public School System.
